The anticipation for the release of Lucifer season 5 on Netflix is definitely growing. Though this installment is billed as the final run, fans are even more psyched to see the show come back as Tom Ellis (as Lucifer) teased the "hot" new episodes.

Ellis and the cast have, recently, returned on the set of Lucifer season 5. Ellis confirmed the start of production with a video post on Instagram. He described the day's work on the new episode as "hot in more ways than one," as he brought his own industrial-strength hand fan with him.

Incidentally, the first episode of Lucifer Season 5 is titled "Really Sad Devil," which was written by Jason Ning. The writers teased the script's title in a post on social media, which prompted speculations from fans about the fate of Lucifer Morningstar.

To recall, Lucifer season 4 ended with the titular character reluctantly sitting on his throne as the King of Hell. He's away from his friends, but he had no choice but to assume his place to save them.

Fans think that the first episode title will be uttered by Ella (played by Aimee Garcia), in what promises to be an angst-filled installment. The writers told TV Line that they have known what Lucifer season 5 episode 1 would be about since they filmed the first episode of the fourth season last year.

Showrunner Ildy Modrovich, also, partly teased the title of Lucifer season 5 episode 2 on her Twitter. She hinted that it would have the acronym L.L.L. that could mean several things, including Lucifer's Lustful Llama and Lonely Little Luci.

Modrovich also shared a photo from the set of Lucifer season 5 episode 2 with Amenadiel (played by D.B. Woodside) and Detective Dan (played by Kevin Alejandro) in a serious conversation. Their body language suggested that not everything is alright with these two characters.

Meanwhile, producers of Lucifer season 5 are trying to keep the details of how the devil could potentially return to earth a big secret. Though fans have a lot of speculations, Modrovich told Entertainment Weekly that they are going in an unexpected direction.

Netflix has not yet given the specific release date for Lucifer season 5, but it will likely be ready to drop on the streaming platform in mid-2020 with 16 episodes. Lucifer season 1 to 4, however, continue to be accessible for Netflix subscribers.
