The Good Doctor Season 3's new episode will feature more of Dr. Audrey Lim (Christina Chang) and Dr. Neil Melendez's (Nicholas Gonzalez) romance. However, Episode 2 will put Audrey in a hard position to question Neil's ability now that she is promoted and has the power.
"As Dr. Marcus Andrews (Hill Harper) vows to help a good Samaritan who was injured while stopping a sexual assault, Dr. Audrey Lim faces a difficult decision when a young patient's parents suspect that Dr. Neil Melendez made a mistake," The Good Doctor Season 3 Episode 2 official synopsis read. "Meanwhile, Dr. Shaun Murphy (Freddie Highmore) fields advice following his disastrous date with Dr. Carly Lever (Jasika Nicole); and Dr. Claire Browne (Antonia Thomas) gets a surprise visit from her mother."
With the relationship Audrey and Neil have, she definitely doesn't want to do anything that will make him feel less effective when it comes to his profession. However, she needs to put their patient's welfare first. Neil has to admit he has made a mistake, and he needs to be accountable for it. So, it remains to be seen if this will affect their relationship, per CarterMatt.
Elsewhere, Shaun and Carly may still be trying to work things out between the two of them in The Good Doctor Season 3 Episode 2 after their disastrous first date. It may still take time for the two to get to another level, especially that Shaun is a newbie when it comes to these things.
In the previous episode, Shaun asked his friends and colleagues why his first date with Carly turned into a disaster. However, the topic changed when Neil talked about his romance with Aubrey.
"I don't think I offer up anything on this one because I'm kind of [worried about] my own relationship with Lim," Neil said. "We're dealing with this promotion of hers that makes this a forbidden love, which is the tastiest kind."
Their decision to make their relationship public resulted in some complications at work after Audrey became the chief of surgery. In an interview with TVLine, executive producer David Shore revealed the two have no idea how much of a challenge Audrey's new position would be for their romance.
Now that Audrey has more responsibility and authority over Neil, everything is about to change. The Good Doctor Season 3 Episode 2 is set to be out on Monday, Sept. 30, on ABC.
