In October, Microsoft will hold the Surface Event where it will presumably launch its latest upgraded products and devices including the Microsoft Surface Laptop 3. Ahead of the anticipated event, several sites reported specs of the next iteration to Microsoft's Surface Laptop series. The latest leaked specs reveal that the upcoming laptop will have an AMD chip inside instead of the usual Intel chips.
Earlier, we reported that the Microsoft Surface Laptop 3 would allegedly run on AMD chips, but that report lacks details. Today, WinFuture reported that the 15-inch variant of Microsoft Surface Laptop 3 will have a monster of a specs. The German publication reveals that the upcoming device will run on AMD octa-core CPU with up to 16 GB of RAM.
The specific details about the specs and features of Microsoft Surface Laptop 3 are still unavailable. But, following next week's leak, a more solid piece of evidence points that the 15-inch Microsoft Surface Laptop 3 variant will use the new AMD processor from AMD's Ryzen series. According to WinFuture, the entry-level variant of the Microsoft Surface Laptop 3 will run on AMD four-core Ryzen processor, which are Ryzen 5 3550U and the Ryzen 7 3750U.
These processors are currently being used by the company's OEM partners in their notebooks. The Microsoft Surface Laptop 3 is expected to be retailed between $999 and $1099 for the AMD Ryzen 5 and AMD Ryzen 7 models. Additionally, each model will come with 8GB of RAM.
The other two Microsoft Surface Laptop 3 variants allegedly will run on AMD Ryzen hexa-core CPUs with 12 GB of RAM. The base model for this series apparently will cost around $1399 while the maxed-out model will be retailed at $1599. The highest-end Microsoft Surface Laptop 3 variant will run on AMD octa-core CPU with 16 GB of RAM with a couple of models anticipated to be retailed between $1999 and $2399.
Wccftech reported that AMD has not yet launched any AMD Ryzen mobile processors with six or more core configurations. This could mean that the Redmond-based company is the exclusive launch partner of the semiconductor company and the debut might happen during the Microsoft Surface event. Other specs revealed in the latest report include a 15-inch display with 3:2 aspect ratio.
The Microsoft Surface Laptop 3 is anticipated to be released with thin bezels, and the USB type C will be a part of the package. Microsoft fans are hoping that the Microsoft Surface Laptop 3 will also come with Thunderbolt 3 support.
