Last September 23, Sony Interactive Entertainment President Jim Ryan explained that the PlayStation 5 will have the possible ability to suspend gameplay with lower power consumption compared to PS4. The president added that if this feature is enabled by one million PS5 users, it could save energy equivalent to the average electricity use of 1000 homes in the US. Furthermore, the changes will take effect when the next generation gaming console is on standby, which means the overall gaming experience of the user will not be affected.
