It was recently revealed that the gen 1 pokemon Ponyta will have a brand new Galarian form in the upcoming game "Pokemon Sword and Shield." However, aside from the appearance of the pocket monster, that is the only detail we initially got. Fans, however, need not wait for too long to find out more about this new Galarian pocket monster.

Earlier today, several images of the Galarian type Ponyta are shown at Famitsu. Additionally, Nintendo shared more concrete details about the pocket monster that will arrive in "Pokemon Sword and Shield." According to the latest reports, the Galarian Ponyta will be exclusive to "Pokemon Shield."

This kind of setup is not new to Pokemon players and has been a practice in many pokemon games to encourage players to trade with their friends. Also, previous reports confirmed that "Pokemon Sword" would be getting its own exclusive pocket monster in the form of Sirfetch's, the latest evolution of Farfetch'd. But, what many fans are more interested in is the type considering that all Galarian Forms have a new and different type of form as opposed to their original counterparts.

Ponyta is known to be a Fire-type pocket monster, but its Galarian form in "Pokemon Shield" is a Psychic-type. Many fans initially assumed that it would be a Fairy-type pocket monster because of its appearance. Most likely, when it evolves to Rapidash, the pocket monster will retain its Psychic form, although we do not discount the likelihood that it could have an extra type as a result.

The category of the upcoming "Pokemon Sword and Shield" Pokemon in the Pokedex has also changed. Ponyta is now classified as the Unique Horn pocket monster and can be caught with one or two Abilities. One of the first Ponyta abilities introduced in the series is Run Away, which helps players to escape wild battles easily. The second Ability is a new one and is called Pastel Veil.

This other Ponyta ability in "Pokemon Sword and Shield" prevents the pocket monster and its allies from being poisoned by its opponents. It also has some kind of healing power that cures its poisoned allies. This ability makes Ponyta a valuable asset, especially in Double Battles of "Pokemon Sword and Shield."

We only have a few weeks to go before we finally get our hands on "Pokemon Sword and Shield." However, there are still a lot of new pocket monsters that are anticipated to be released in the game. Rumors have it that new Galar forms and evolutions will be an ongoing source of theories and speculations among aspiring "Pokemon Sword and Shield" players and fans.

"Pokemon Sword and Shield" will be exclusively released on the Nintendo Switch on November 15.
