A new render for the hyped Tesla pickup truck has emerged, thanks to the enthusiasm of the electric car community. While we've been treated to several concept images before, this one has caught the attention of many as it might actually be pretty close to CEO Elon Musk's "really futuristic-like cyberpunk Blade Runner" plus "armored personnel carrier from the future" description.
In a video posted on YouTube, concept artist Stephen Wiliam Mason boasted off his new render that featured what Musk had in mind. His concept image is perhaps the most satisfying to look at, complete with bold, unconventional, and futuristic design. The artist captured a pickup like no other and definitely something that would challenge the more conventional view of die-hard pickup users.
Mason's version of the upcoming Tesla machine is now being touted as the most plausible rendering of the all-electric truck yet. It sure ticks a lot of Musk's boxes, at least according to the descriptions and hints he has hinted over the past year.
While we want to believe that this could actually be the truck, let's keep in mind that this merely a concept at the end of the day, so Tesla' version might be completely different. Some amateur designers tried to interpret what it would look like based on the teaser image and Musk's comments, but the CEO has been mum if any of the renders came close.
What we're all sure though is that Tesla's electric pickup won't look like any vehicle we've seen before and that it can take all the roughness in the world. What's great about Mason's render, apart from the out-of-the-box design, is that he captured the value of utility.
Musk has admitted that the truck isn't something a whole lot of people would patronize, but the artist managed to conceptualize a delightfully weird looking truck that can still perform the duties of a pickup. It looks perfectly capable of towing and carrying large items with its huge tires, high ground clearance, and aggressive stance. What's even more exciting is Mason's image render matches several of Tesla's recently filed patents, including a self-inflating tire system and a novel windshield wiper system.
Musk has been pretty inconsistent with launch dates before, but it seems he's set for a November unveiling event. We're still waiting for more details, which Tesla should release in bits and pieces until the day of the reveal.
Pricing for the Tesla electric pickup truck is expected to start at $49,000 at most. Check out Mason's video below.
