Frank Lampard was more than satisfied with the performances of Chelsea's young players Billy Gilmour and Marc Guehi even if the team suffered a 2-1 defeat against Manchester United in the round of 16 of the Carabao Cup. On Wednesday, the seven game-winning streak of Chelsea ended at the Stamford Bridge as Marcus Rashford double canceled the strike made by Michy Batshuayi that allowed Ole Gunnar Solksjaer's team to advance into the quarter finals. Despite this, Frank Lampard shows his satisfaction on the performances of Chelsea's younger footballers.

During the game, Chelsea's coach rotated his squad and made a total of six changes with Marc Guehi replacing Fikayo Tomori in central defense and Billy Gilmour substituting Mateo Kovacic in the midfield. While it is disheartening for Lampard to see Chelsea exit in the competition, he was inspired by Gilmour and Guehi's performances. The coach noted that both youngsters proved that they are competent of playing at the top level.
Dimitar Berbatov: “I like the way this #Chelsea team play. Frank Lampard is giving chances to young players and, even though they lost to United, it's paying off. Mason Mount, Tammy Abraham and the rest of this Blues team are playing good football.” #CFC pic.twitter.com/gnDWnSio3A — The Blues (@TheBlues___) November 1, 2019
According to Frank Lampard, Marc Guehi and Billy Gilmour did really good commenting that Marc seemed comfortable. The Chelsea boss also shared with BBC Radio 5 that although he does not want to lose and they know their standing in the competition, the game has a lot of positives. Looking at the larger picture, Lampard noted that the performance of Marc Guehi revealed that he is more comfortable and Billy Gilmour was bright.

Earlier on in the competition, Marc Guehi and Billy Gilmour were given a chance for their full-team debuts for the team during the 7-1 match of Grimsby Town. Marc Guehi is yet to play for the Blues in a top-tier match, but he claimed that Chelsea would find a way to bounce back from the recent setback against Manchester United when they face Watford on Saturday at Vicarage Road in the Premier League. The defeat is hard to take considering that Chelsea has a good run, but the most important part is to stand up and recover and push once again on the premier League, Guehi stated.
