Unai Emery is already under extreme pressure, but calls for his resignation have grown intense following the team's 1-1 match against the Wolves. Supporters blame the Spanish football coach for the disappointing performance of the Gunners. Aside from recent reports claiming that Emery is given an ultimatum to prove his worth at the Emirates, one of the reasons why he is still the coach is because of Arsenal star's Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Multiple reports claim that one of the major reasons why Arsenal has not yet decided to sack Unai Emery is because of the performance of its star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. The Gabon international was signed by Arsene Wenger in 2018 and made 10 goals out of his 14 appearances. The Arsenal captain has flourished under Unai Emery's watch, and the star is Emery's credit in the bank.
Unai Emery's position at Arsenal is still under threat considering that in its last five matches, the Gunners only managed to win only one. The Emirates suffered defeats in the hands of Sheffield United and Liverpool and had set draws with Wolves and Crystal Palace. Interestingly, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's performance in goalscoring is what's keeping the Spanish coach at the helm, Evening Standard reports.

Aside from the Arsenal captain, other players like Bukayo Saka and Matteo Guendouzi have also shown amazing performances for the Gunners. Because of this, the upper management is reportedly willing to give Unai Emery time considering that he steered the team to the Europa League finals in the previous season. But, the 48 years old Spanish coach is still not in the clear.

Several reports claim that Former Chelsea and Manchester United coach Jose Mourinho is being considered for his position. Metro recently reported that Arsenal is also looking into Mikel Arteta and Max Allegri as the top two contenders for the Spanish coach's post. Last weekend, Jose Mourinho allegedly met and dined with the head of football of Arsenal to talk about his future at the Emirates. It was, however, denied by Arsenal.
There is still a chance that Unai Emery could keep his post at the Emirates. If the team performs well in its next four games, the Spanish coach might be able to convince the top management to stick with him.
