Arsenal top executives recently give Unai Emery three more Premier League matches as a new ultimatum to prove that he is still the right man for the job. Following last Saturday's disappointing 2-2 draw with Southampton, several sites are reporting that Head of Football Raul Sanllehi and Technical Director Edu held crisis talks with the Spanish coach. Aside from players reportedly losing faith to the head coach, Arsenal board fears that sticking with Emery could result in the mass departure of its players.
Recently, several sites reported that although Arsenal has given Unai Emery an extension, the board is starting to identify his possible replacement. Aside from supporters calling for his exile, the poor performance of the Gunners and the long-term effect of Emery's reign on Arsenal key players is among the pressing issues that the club would like to address as soon as possible. The board reportedly fears that keeping Emery could lead to the departure of its players.
Members of the Gunners' squad have some serious issues with the methods of the Spanish coach. Many think that Unai Emery's ways are so conservative and his philosophy might cost the club the opportunity of qualifying for the Champions League next season. The executives at the Emirates believe that these reservations shared by players could lead players to reconsider their options and leave the Gunners. Key players Alexandre Lacazette and team captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang are currently in talks over a new deal but reportedly, neither have shown willingness to sign.
Both players would like to play Champions League football, but with the way things are turning out with Arsenal, there seems to be a little glimpse of hope achieving that dream. Also, there are genuine concerns that a further drop from the table would only force other players to reconsider their future at the Emirates. Should the Gunners decide to sack Unai Emery before the end of the season, the club will have to shell out £4million in compensation to the Spanish coach.

Unai Emery is currently facing a big battle to make it to next year as the head coach of Arsenal unless he can turn things around and make dramatic changes in terms of results. Arsenal hierarchy is reportedly profoundly concerned on how far behind schedule another year outside of Europe's top competition will affect their project. The Gunners have never had any Champions League for the past three consecutive seasons.
