Cupertino tech giant Apple is reportedly giving MacBook Pro and iPad Pro a better screen in 2020, which could help the devices catch up with its Microsoft Windows rival. These devices will reportedly use an improved display that would offer better contrast, predicts Ming-Chi Kuo. Apple is planning to launch four to six products with this new screen technology according to the report.

TFI analyst and reliable Apple tipster Ming-Chi Kuo is back once again with his predictions about Apple products. This time the Taiwan-based analyst reveals in his report picked up by Macrumors that iPad Pro and MacBook Pro would use a new display technology known as mini-LED. This new technology will offer far better contrast compared to the standard LED_backlit panels while maintaining less expensive compared to OLED screens.

Kuo's report could mean a significant improvement for the Cupertino tech juggernaut for its iPad Pro and MacBook Pro since Microsoft's products, its close rival, now come with OLED displays. Apple is reportedly planning to launch four to six products with mini-LED displays in the next two or three years. This includes the high-end 12.9-inch iPad Pro with the next generation A14 Bionic chip in the third quarter of next year.

Mini-LED displays are popular for sharper contrast and lower price compared to the standard OLED display. Currently, Apple's tablets and laptops are using LED-backlit displays and not OLED screens. Most tablet and laptop makers prefer OLED displays because of their noticeable contrast and deeper black as compared to LED screens. Apple's iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max both use OLED screens while the more affordable iPhone 11 sports an LCD panel.

The Cupertino company just released the 16-inch MacBook Pro, and it has a high-resolution screen. Ming-Chi Kuo, in his research notes, emphasizes that the integration of a mini-LED screen will make the iPad Pro and MacBook Pro better in terms of entertainment and productivity. So far, the 16-inch MacBook Pro, which was launched last month, is doing well.

Tech enthusiasts and critics praise it for its larger screen and a revamped keyboard that ditched the defective and frustrating butterfly mechanism. Apple introduced the Magic keyboard in the new 16-inch MacBook Pro that launched a separate ESC button. The Cupertino tech titan has not yet released the refreshed or latest version of the Apple iPad Pro, which was released in Oct. 2018. However, Apple is reportedly planning to release a new model in 2020 with 3-D cameras, according to Bloomberg.
