Red Dead Online is adding another layer of attraction for gamers to dabble with, and the fun starts next week, according to Rockstar Games. The Friday the 13th offering will allow players to take on a Specialist Role, specifically, that of an alcohol bootlegger that the game developer dubbed Moonshiner Frontier Pursuit.

In a nutshell, as a moonshiner, a player will get the chance to specialize in the booze brewing business and perhaps perfect that skill. When that happens, it will get easier to avoid the law and in the process, beat out the competition.

"Establish your own bootlegging business in this new Specialist Role - an ideal fit for players progressing along the Trader path or anyone seeking a property to call their own," Rockstar said in a press release.

As always the case, there will be incentives in progressing to the Moonshiner role, and these will be available for those serious enough to grow on this virtual business.

"Unlock unique role-specific skills as you perfect your distillation methods, avoid the law, and put rival peddlers out of business. If you're lucky, you might survive long enough to open your own speakeasy," the developer promised.

For those who will do great as Moonshiners, the door will open to meet the notorious Maggie Fike, described by Rockstar as "an experienced bootlegger with the scars to prove it.

In doing business with Maggie, the venture will get its start with the purchase of a Moonshining Shack, which the developer said "is an unassuming dwelling, the main floor acting as a front with all the details of an ordinary homestead. The basement, however, is where you'll ultimately get down to business."

The whole package will also include fresh wardrobe options and a new Navy Revolver, all of which will start becoming available for gamers able to reach Rank 5. Rockstar said the privilege would be extended as well to active Traders who can boast of successfully completing a selling mission.

As mentioned, the new Frontier Pursuit will go live on December 13 and according to Polygon, it will be available across all gaming platforms. That would mean Moonshiner will be found on Windows PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Google Stadia.

The latest add-on seemed indicative of Rockstar's intention to make Red Dead Online even more interesting. The likelihood of the developer giving the players the power to run virtual businesses seemed an irresistible proposition, according to WCCFTech.

Red Deal Online is bundled for free with Red Dead Redemption.
