Microsoft continues to strengthen its ties with Google's Android operating system, considering that Windows Phone is now a thing of the past. The Redmond-based tech giant released a new update to the Your Phone app that brings PC and Android smartphone a little bit closer with each other. With the recent update, Microsoft's Your Phone App now allows users to receive and make phone calls from laptop or desktop.

This particular functionality was first tested in October, but it is now rolling out in full. This latest Windows 10 feature is easily accessed using Calls tab in the Your Phone app. It allows users to scroll through the list of contacts or type a new number using the virtual keypad.

But, it does not end there, the Redmond-based tech giant is also introducing several software tricks that make the latest functionality very intuitive to use. Of course, the major feature in this is the user's ability to transfer calls from an Android smartphone to PC or vice versa. All Android smartphones running on Android 7 Nougat or earlier can use this latest Windows 10 feature.

During the announcement of the latest Windows 10 feature, the Microsoft says:

Thank you, Windows Insiders for your feedback over the last couple of months. Today, we're pleased to announce the general availability of the Your Phone app Calls feature, which allows you to receive and make phone calls on your PC.

The latest Your Phone app update rolled out by Microsoft reinforces its feature set. The app is capable of delivering text messages and notifications from an Android device to a linked PC. Users are also able to check the recent photos on their smartphones through their PC using the Your Phone app. There are also a wealth of other features in Your Phone app that are interesting.

This includes the ability to mirror the screen of your smartphone to PC, for example. Since its initial launch in 2018, Microsoft's Your Phone app has been widely embraced by Windows 10 users all over the world. The app has been downloaded more than 50 million times on the Google Play Store.

It is important to note that the latest Windows 10 feature is for Your Phone app's calling feature only. Text messaging, as well as Phone Screen feature, which enables users to control their smartphones in windows 10, are still limited to selected handsets. The Redmond-based tech giant has yet to announce when these exciting features will be widely available.
