Moving house can be very exciting in one's life. It is not just a simple act of embracing change but moving into a new home can also show a transition, which could open you to more opportunities, memories, and new decisions to make.
Though moving house might seem positive, a recent poll posted on Telegraph showed otherwise. Among all the people that were included in the poll, two-thirds of them considered moving house as their top reason for stress as compared to divorce, new job, and relationship problems.
"It's one of life's most stressful experiences, and it's because it involves having to cope with change", says Nicky Lidbetter. Lidbetter is the Chief Executive of the charity named Anxiety UK. The expert also added that as people try to cope with their new lifestyle, most people experience anxiety and stress.
Protecting yourself from these factors that can cause emotional instability, in the long run, might seem impossible, especially when moving house, but know it is not. There are still several ways you can do to protect yourself from stress and anxiety. Here are some of those, as revealed by Readers' Digest.
BEGIN PACKING YOUR THINGS EARLY
In everything, early preparation is the best. So, in moving house it is also best to prepare and start packing everything as soon as possible. You can start as early as one month and be prepared to purchase as many boxes as you will need. By allotting more time in packing your things up, it will also give you more time to organize the things you put in your box too, and also care for your things more too.
SEND OFF SOME UNUSED THINGS TO CHARITY
It is inevitable to outgrow things that we usually love. Our tastes, desires, and needs change over time and there's no reason to feel guilty about it. Know it is perfectly normal for everyone.
As we outgrow and move on to our old things, our homes tend to become the hoarder of all those stuff. Instead of just keeping them to rot and get destroyed, it is better to give them to charity instead. Doing so would be a great opportunity not just to help you pack your things easier, but also extend a hand to those who are in need.
Moving into a new house can cost you everything you have. From your bank account, skill, effort, patience, and time-everything will be drained. But make sure to just focus only on your goal of having a new and exciting life ahead. As you succeed, every effort will surely be worth it.
