Every time BTS performs, graces the red carpet, being in interviews, they automatically trend worldwide. In fact, even those who are non-Kpop fans become interested in them and would go on social media to ask ARMYs about their names. And the recent member who grabbed a lot of attention was J-Hope.
BTS performed at the Grammys and many were smitten by J-Hope. Since non-Kpop fans have no idea what their names are, they complimented J-Hope by referring to him as “the guy in the red jacket.”
“What is the name of the boy in red jacket? He was hot,” one wrote. “I don’t know who the red jacket guy of BTS is, but he was making me laugh and smile with his cute little moves and his smile,” another one shared. “Who is red jacket dude? I think I’m in love,” one declared. And another one just simply tweeted: “This guy in the red jacket,” adding a screenshot of J-Hope.
But before their performance, J-Hope was already trending on Twitter when he wore a see-through shirt underneath his layered ensemble. Even though the mesh material still covered his chest area, ARMYs were enjoying the view.
Also, he trended because he spoke fluent English during BTS’ Grammys 2020 red carpet interview with Ryan Seacrest. Since RM is the only member who speaks English comfortably, foreign hosts would usually ask him all the questions.
What these hosts didn’t know is the fact that the rest of the BTS boys have been studying English, not only so they could converse using the language, but to help their leader RM during interviews.
With that said, J-Hope decided to help RM after Ryan Seacrest bombarded him with question after question. When asked about their new album, J-Hope demanded the mic from Seacrest and said: “You will know when you will listen to our new album and watch (our) performance that liking BTS was the best decision ever.”
After impressing everyone with his English, J-Hope then blinded everyone with his visuals and stage presence, earning the title of “The Guy In The Red Jacket.” But this is not the first time that J-Hope was given a title by non-kpop fans.
After BTS performed “Mic Drop” and “DNA” on Dick Clark's New Years Rockin’ Eve in 2018, the hashtags #TheOneWithTheRedHair, #GuyWithTheRedHairBTS, and #TheGuyWithTheGoldenJacket quickly trended as locals wanted to know his name and some even said that they'll check him out.
