In our lives, recently, it is inevitable to become so busy and become so worried about so many things including our work, family, responsibilities, daily tasks, and even expectations. Given all these, most of us are left with only limited time, which we can use to prioritize cleaning and fixing our things. Pile of books on the floor, unwashed dishes with last night's dinner, empty glasses on the countertops, and dirty coffee tables, are often the scenes you will come home with after a busy day at work.

Going home to such a cluttered and messy house can be such a headache, right? Don't fret for feeling that way as experts say you're not alone.

"Clutter can play a significant role in how we feel about our homes, our workplaces, and ourselves. Messy homes and workspaces leave us feeling anxious, helpless, and overwhelmed", explains Sherrie Bourg Carter, a psychologist and a writer of Psychology Today.

HOW CAN A CLUTTERED ROOM AFFECT YOUR MENTAL STATE?

According to Carter, there are several ways an untidy room can affect your mental health, which can lead to stress and anxiety. Some of those include snatching your attention away from important things, bombarding your minds so much making it unable to relax, making you feel guilty of the things you can't organize, hindering your productivity in your every day's tasks, and frustrating you deeply.

THINGS TO DO TO ALTER THE MESS

Cleaning your whole house can be nerve-racking. No doubt about that. Since seeing all those cluttered things can be overwhelming, ditch thinking how you clean all those messes in one blow. Start working on one room time and make sure to finish cleaning it before moving on to the next one. Doing so can give you a satisfying feeling of slow success.

Furthermore, better ask your family to participate in the cleaning too. You all contribute to the mess, so it just rightful for them to be included in the process of fixing the problem. Aside from making your task easier, doing so could give them a sense of responsibility to keep the cleanliness and orderliness of your place, as explained by Curious Mind Magazine.

Cleaning and managing your house's cleanliness is such a difficult and time-consuming task, especially if your house's space is too large. Given this reason, it is better to at least keep and manage clutter from piling up again. Do that by putting everything back to its designated places right after using it. It is also better to encourage your family and other people staying in your place to do the same.
