SEVENTEEN is known for its synchronization. Having 13 members dance identically with each other every single time is almost unheard of, but S.Coups, Jeonghan, Joshua, Jun, Hoshi, Wonwoo, Woozi, DK, Mingyu, The8, Seungkwan, Vernon, and Dino have proven time and time again that this can be done.

Just like any other K-pop groups, SEVENTEEN members are also divided into groups. There’s the “Hip Hop Team,” which is consists of S.Coups, Wonwoo, Mingyu, and Vernon. Then the “Vocal Team,” Jeonghan, Joshua, Woozi, and Seungkwan. And the “Performance Team,” Jun, Hoshi, The8, and Dino.

Hoshi is not only the leader of the “Performance Team,” but he is the lead dancer and choreographer of SEVENTEEN. With that said, the synchronization that everybody loves about the Pledis Entrainment boy group is all because of Hoshi’s method of teaching.

Instead of just letting the members memorize the steps and move on, Hoshi would check and re-check every detail until they look perfect. In fact, the way he taught his members the choreography is by perfecting the angles.

During one of their dance practices, DK kicked a little too high for Hoshi’s taste, he quickly corrected him and said that the angle of the kick shouldn’t be 90 degrees, but around 45 degrees. After watching DK dance, Hoshi now wants to perfect the angle of his head tilt.

“Dokyeom, the angle of your head. I think you must turn it three degrees more,” Hoshi said. Even DK was taken aback of how precise their dance leader was and asked him if he really meant what he said by turning his head three degrees more. And by the looks of it, Hoshi wasn’t joking at all. Meanwhile, Hoshi’s fellow “Performance Team” member The 8 is also as critical as him. The one-half of the “China Line” seemed to adapt the dance leader’s method when he became a mentor on the Chinese version of Produce 101.

The8 taught the trainees the choreography of SEVENTEEN’s “Performance Team” solo song, “Highlight,” and instructed them to have the same angle. At one point, The8 even told them to stay still with their leg up at a 45-degree angle. For them to remember this angle, The8 told the trainees to freeze in that position as he left to go to the bathroom. (Watch the clip here).
