Kate Middleton had her very first podcast interview with Giovanna Fletcher of Happy Mum, Happy Baby. In it, she revealed the "amazing grandmother" that inspired her to be a great mom to her children Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.
The Duchess of Cambridge was referring to her grandma Valerie Glassborow who devoted a lot of her time to play with her grandchildren. Kate recalled that as a child, she spent time with her granny going and crafts, gardening at the greenhouse, and cooking in the kitchen.
Kate told Fletcher that she is trying her best to incorporate what she experienced with Granny Valerie to her kids. According to Daily Mail, Kate's granny worked as a codebreaker in Bletchley Park during the Second World War.
The duchess said that her experiences with her grandmother taught her many things about raising kids. First, children remember the quality of relationships among the people they spend time with, especially in their early years. Second, children need to spend a lot of time outside for their physical and mental well-being.
Kate spent 30 minutes talking to Fletcher about her family, her children, and motherhood. The podcast host, who is also an author, said she did not expect that the Duchess of Cambridge would share "very honest answers" about being a parent.
Fletcher also said that Kate is articulate, intelligent, and knows her platform all too well. The podcast was a chance for Kate to tackle her newest project, "5 Big Questions on the Under Fives," which polled over 200,000 parents across the U.K. about the challenges in a child's early years.
The royal hopes that the outcome of her survey will bring significant and lasting changes for many families and generations to come. Kate wants emphasis on early childhood development to be a part of the conversation.
The duchess met Fletcher during one of her visits to Birmingham to launch her latest project. Before they sat down for a podcast, the two visit a London nursery school.
Fletcher shared on Instagram that Kate had a funny moment with one of the kids, who called herself Peppa and had a mate named George. The little girl referred to Kate as the Daddy Pig while Fletcher was the Mommy Pig.
The podcast host also said that it's very clear how passionate the duchess is about children. It was a wonderful time for her to get to sit down and talk with Kate about her experiences as a mother.
