The iPhone 12 series, the upcoming flagship smartphone from Apple is anticipated to arrive in Sept. of this year. Over the past months, the much-awaited iPhone has its fair share of leaks and rumors. Today, a new report claims that the iPhone 12 would feature this insane charging feature.

iPhone 12 Charging Power

The latest leak about Apple's iPhone 12 comes from IT News, which claims that the upcoming iPhone would feature new technology. Dubbed as the Gallium Nitride, the latest technology slashes the size of power adapters while maintaining the same flow of wattage. The technology would not only be limited to Apple products but would also be used by other companies like Samsung, Huawei, and Oppo, according to the report.

Chinese tech company Xiaomi developed the latest fast charging technology. It is currently one of the features of the company's recently launched Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro. The report also notes that Apple might use this latest fast charging technology on its iPhone 12 and MacBook computers. At present, Apple's MacBook Pro has a power brick of 61W, while the new tech introduces a 65W capability.

The new GAN Technology is available with a USB-C interface that backs up to 65W fast-charge capability. The report reveals that it is capable of delivering a full charge for the Mi 10 Pro in just 45 minutes. How is this possible?

What Is GAN Tech?

It appears that the GAN charger currently utilized by Xiaomi uses Nanomicros NV6115 and NV6117 GANFast power ICs. It has a 56.3 x 30.8 x 30.8mm (53 cc) volume, and with the latest GAN semiconductor material, its size is approximately 48 percent smaller compared to that of the standard adapter on Xiaomi's notebook. Aside from these, the USB-C interface supports output current intelligent adjustment in various gears.

It could mean that future iPhone 12 could have the ability to charge up to 65W. Xiaomi's Gan fast-charger comes with USB-C to USB-C data cable. It also comes with an E-Marker chip and backs a maximum current flow of 5A.

It is still unknown if Apple would offer the same package or if it would change what comes with the Gan fast-charging package if ever it would be released along with the iPhone 12 series.
