Apple may release a more powerful MacBook Pro this year, according to a new set of leaks. Since last year, TFI Securities Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicted that Apple might unveil a new MacBook Pro in 2020. It appears that Apple is preparing to introduce a more powerful premium laptop this year.

Latest MacBook Pro Leak

The latest leak about Apple's MacBook Pro reveals that the Cupertino tech juggernaut could be working on a refreshed version of the 13-inch MacBook Pro. A Twitter user recently shared a 3D Mark Time Spy benchmark of Apple's upcoming machine. Interestingly, it appears that the 13-inch MacBook Pro might feature Intel's 10th-generation i7-1068NG7 Ice Lake.

The leaker also shared that the MacBook Pro processor would feature a 2.3GHz chip and a 4.1GHz turbo boost capabilities. The 10nm chip could be a custom variant made by Intel for the Cupertino company considering that it is not on the SKU of Intel's ARK. Following the successful debut of the MacBook Pro in 2019, it looks like Apple might add the processor to its offerings.

What Does The Leak Mean?

Based on the leaked details, the alleged processor of the upcoming MacBook is 12 percent more powerful than the i5. It is also 29.2 percent more powerful when it comes to graphic processing prowess. There were rumors that Apple might integrate Intel Iris Plus or Intel UHD technology, but it still remains to be seen.

Assuming that the latest leak is accurate, the upcoming 13-inch MacBook Pro would be the first Apple notebook to feature a 10th generation chip. While the leaked benchmark does not explicitly state that the 16-inch MacBook Pro might feature the same CPU, it is highly likely that it is going to be the case. However, consumers and tech enthusiasts anticipate that the bigger MacBook Pro model might feature Intel Comet lake processor on 14++nm architecture.

Release Window

The rumored 13-inch MacBook Pro is expected to launch in the first quarter of 2020. It might be officially revealed at the company's WWDC event in Mar. 2020. But, it is worth mentioning that the leaked benchmark is not in any way an assurance that the 13-inch MacBook Pro could feature the powerful Intel chip.

There are cases in the past where some benchmarks were edited. Apple has not yet announced anything related to the upcoming premium notebook. In this case, we suggest taking this information with a good measure of salt and with skepticism.
