To some, Paris Hilton might be an American royalty as the heiress to a global hotel empire. The reality TV star, however, recently discovered that she is related to Queen Elizabeth and the British royal family.
In a Cosmopolitan interview, the socialite revealed that she has blue blood in her veins after her mom, Kathy Hilton, did a DNA test using a kit. The result showed that they are related to the Queen, as well as to Hollywood superstar Marilyn Monroe.
Paris, however, did not go into the details of Kathy's DNA test. She simply trusted what her mother told her. According to The Sun, Paris is the 20th cousin of Queen Elizabeth and she is a descendant of King Henry II, the ruler of England from 1133 to 1189.
She's not the only American celebrity with a reported blood relation to Queen Elizabeth. According to the ancestry site Geni, Beyoncé, or Queen Bey to her fans, is Queen Elizabeth's 25th cousin once removed. They also share the same ancestry: King Henry II.
Meanwhile, Queen Elizabeth's direct descendant, her grandson Prince Harry, has been her most recent focus in the past few months. Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle are officially stepping back as senior royals by March 31.
While some royal experts say that the Queen is disappointed with her grandson's decision to leave the royal family, royal historian Robert Lacey thinks that Her Majesty is actually supportive and sensitive to what Prince Harry is going through.
Lacey told People that Queen Elizabeth knows Prince Harry's issues all too well as it mirrored her sister, Princess Margaret's issues. As the younger sibling, both Princess Margaret and Prince Harry had to live in the shadow of the Queen and Prince William all their lives.
This has been a constant source of tension in the royal family since generations of the past. Lacey said that it's because the monarchy's system doesn't give younger royal siblings the proper recognition. The younger sibling syndrome worsened when the older sibling and heir to the throne had kids and heirs of their own.
Other royal experts also said that Prince Harry always wanted to leave the royal family even before he married Meghan. The Duke of Sussex never wanted the royal spotlight as it was what killed his mother.
Sources said that before meeting Meghan, Prince Harry wished to move to Africa and work as a tour guide. Four months of declaring that plan, he met his future wife, who changed his life.
