Xiaomi is one of the most aggressive Chinese tech companies in the market today. The company made its name as the flagship killer by introducing handsets with advanced specs and features but at surprisingly affordable prices. Xiaomi appears like it is maintaining its strategy on its upcoming Mi Mix Alpha device.
A new hands-on video shared by the YouTube channel MKBHD reveals a stunning smartphone with a unique design factor. Unlike other smartphones available in the market today, the video shows an almost 360-degrees display. This is the first time that an alleged actual hands-on video is shared online since last year, most of these leaks were renders.
Unlike foldable smartphones, Xiaomi moved away from this genre and invested in the conventional smartphone form with a unique display that wraps around the edges all the way to the back of the device. According to the YouTuber, users could take a selfie by flipping the smartphone to the back, which houses a selfie viewfinder.
The Xiaomi Mi Mix Alpha is equipped with a primary rear camera, which is a 108 MP sensor. It also appears thick and heavy since it utilizes metal chassis and ceramic for its camera strip. It is also believed to sport a Titanium Alloy frame.
Earlier reports revealed that the upcoming wrap-around display smartphone would feature a 7.92-inches Flexible, Super AMOLED screen. It has a screen to body ratio of 180.8 percent and a resolution of 2088 x 2250 pixels. It is also rumored to be running on a prototype software customized by the company to exploit the form factor of the Xiaomi Mi Mix.
Moreover, the Xiaomi Mi Mix Alpha showcases battery life information and notifications and volume touch switch on its side edges. Shortcuts and widgets could also be placed at the back of the smartphone. Flipping the phone around would show the dashboard that could feature the weather app, music controls, step counter.
Also, users won't have to pull down the notification shade but just need to rotate the phone physically to achieve it. Other details about the Xiaomi Mi Mix Alpha includes a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Plus SoC. It is also anticipated to have a base form that offers 12 GB of RAM and 512 GB UFS 3.0 storage.
Xiaomi Mi Mix Alpha might support 40W fast charging and pack a 4.050 mAh battery. It is worth mentioning that the hands-on video is just a prototype device. It is not the official product that would be released in the market if ever Xiaomi decides in the future to release it to the consumers. Also, there are a lot of issues with a smartphone with this kind of design display that the company has to resolve. In other words, it might take some time before the company could finally launch the Xiaomi Mi Mix Alpha.
