This Is Us season 4 has already hinted what the future holds for Kevin Pearson. One of the biggest mysteries in his storyline is that a flash-forward scene teased he's engaged, but the identity of the woman hasn't been revealed. The only thing that was shown is that Kevin and the woman have a son and Kevin builds the dream home of his father in the future.
But, it looks like we're going to meet Kevin's fiancé soon in This Is Us season 4. In a report via CarterMatt, Justin Hartley told Us Weekly that the big reveal is just a "couple of weeks" away, which is an apparent confirmation that his fiancé will be revealed this season. Now, there are a lot of candidates as to whom his fiancé would be.
Some speculated that it is Madison, based on the conversation the two had about not being together. This might be enough to suggest they'll end up together. But, others also think that it might be Cassidy, considering that she had a big role earlier this season. Although there are a lot of possible candidates out there, the leading contender is Sophie.
Kevin and Sophie have been through a lot and they've known each other since they were kids. The two have a deep history and they even got married but got divorced later on. Their relationship is like a rollercoaster ride; it's heartbreaking but they know they love each other. Hence, there is a huge possibility that Kevin's fiancé in the flash-forward scene is Sophie.
Show executive producers also discussed to Entertainment Weekly about the previous reunion of Kevin and Sophie in This Is Us season 4. According to EP Isaac Aptaker, their situation is complicated, especially for Sophie. She found someone who loves and supports her, but he's also the same person who broke her heart. So, the character needs to make the right choice now.
EP Elizabeth Berger, on the other hand, said Kevin's trip to Pittsburgh was a beautiful detour for him. He helped Sophie through her hard times after her mother died, and was able to repay his ex-wife since she's also there for him when his father died. Yet, Berger also noted that the trip was also a realization of the life Kevin didn't choose and walk away from.
This Is Us season 4 drops its new episodes every Tuesday night on NBC.
