It was indeed a busy start of 2020 for Outlander actor Sam Heughan. Aside from the Season 5 premiere of Starz's drama last month and promoting his new movie, Bloodshot, Heughan is also busy putting his wines in stores.

Several celebrities have launched their own wines and spirits and Sam Heughan's whiskey is one of the few that impressed Forbes. The magazine listed some of the new liquor brands that fans won't regret spending their money on.

Heughan named his concoction, The Sassenach, a nod to the name his Outlander character Jamie Fraser gave to his wife, Claire (Caitriona Balfe). In an interview, Heughan revealed how he came up with the idea of creating his own wine.

The actor admitted that he had been approached by several wine brands in the past. He enjoyed drinking some of those but a Scotch whisky is something personal to him. From there, he envisioned creating his own wine.

The Spy Who Dumped Me actor said he teamed up with a master blender to create a smooth and distinct-tasting whisky. The actor also boasted that he is a hands-on entrepreneur as he worked on every detail of his creation-from the label, the bottle design up to its distinct taste. Heughan added that he also self-funded his new venture.

"I can't wait to share it with everyone and have a few more special ideas currently distilling... Scotland is a very welcoming country, progressive and inclusive. The Sassenach is "the outsider", the non-conformist... I'm delighted to share a little piece of my heritage with you," said Heughan.

Meanwhile, the Scottish actor announced on Tuesday that his The Sassenach whisky will be available in five states in the U.S. In his tweet, Hueghan announced that his wine will be available in stores in California, Florida, New York, New Jersey, and Texas. Although the Scotch whiskey would be available in limited states, it is expected to expand across the U.S. and Europe in the future.

The premium liquor store, the Reserve Bar, described Hueghan's The Sassenach as inspired by the Scottish Highland landscape. It has a unique blend of Scotch whisky with a distinct character and smooth flavor.

The blend is rich in flavors from peach, apricot, honey, and butterscotch. Drinkers will also take note of its citrus fruits, almonds, and vanilla scent.

The Sassenach Whisky is available at the store for $99 per bottle. It also offers gift options such as a luxury drawstring bottle holder for an additional $15 or a handmade leather bottle holder for $25.
