We are still several months away from the official launch of the next flagship smartphone of Google. However, over the past weeks, we have seen several rumors and leaks reportedly revealing some of the details of the upcoming Google Pixel 5. We have compiled these leaks and rumors to see how the upcoming flagship smartphone from the search engine giant would fair with other smartphones available in the market today.
Google Pixel 5 Leaks
The latest Google Pixel 5 leak is courtesy of SlashLeaks, which reveals an image of the alleged flagship smartphone alongside the Google Pixel 4 XL. The leak claims that compared to its older sibling, the upcoming smartphone has a much thinner top and bottom frame. Additionally, the Google Pixel 5 would feature Face Unlock for an extra layer of security, along with a 90 Hz display refresh rate.
Apart from this, the leak also claims that Google Pixel 5 would house Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 and would feature 5G support. Another report from BGR reveals that the upcoming flagship smartphone from Google would feature a triple rear camera configuration. The report also cites a leak that claims that the rear camera configuration of the Google Pixel 5 would have a controversial but original design.
Other Google Pixel 5 Details
Earlier leaks about the Google Pixel 5 reveals that it would feature a higher screen to body ratio, which aligns with the details revealed by SlashLeaks. In terms of RAM, the Pixel series has a weak spot for the random access memory. Consumers only saw Google break from the 4GB RAM when it introduced the Pixel 4 that houses 6 GB RAM.
So far, we have no details about the RAM of the upcoming flagship smartphone, but it is likely that it would not go below the 6GB configuration. Premium flagship models like that from Samsung sports 12 GB RAM, and Google might want to increase the RAM of its upcoming smartphone if it wants to attract more consumers. Apart from RAM, another waterloo of the Pixel lineup is its internal storage.
Google Pixel 4 only offers 64 GB of internal storage for its base model. Considering the advances in camera configuration and bigger photo and video sizes, Google might want to increase the internal storage of its base model, perhaps at 128 GB.
It is worth noting that at this point, these are just leaks, which means these details are not yet official. We suggest taking this information with a good measure of salt. Google Pixel 5 is anticipated to launch in Oct. 2020.
