The industry first got a glimpse of the official successor of the Huawei Mate X, the Mate Xs, a few days ago. The Chinese tech giant held an online event starring its latest foldable smartphone. Earlier, the Huawei Mate Xs went on its first sale in China, and despite the COVID-19 outbreak, the new foldable smartphone was sold in seconds.
Huawei Mate Xs On Sale
Last year, the Chinese tech titan placed the Mate X on sale and was sold out just a few seconds later. The same thing happened to its successor, the Mate X. Huawei is planning to have another sale on Mar. 8, so consumers who were not able to avail the product today could have a chance to get their hands on the new foldable smartphone.
The Chinese tech company does not say how many units were sold on the current flash sale. However, if we take a look at the previous number of Huawei Mate X units sold per month, it could be around 100,000 units more or less.
Huawei Mate Xs Going Global
At the moment, the Huawei Mate Xs is only available in China. The company earlier confirmed that it would be released in Europe and would retail at around €2,500. Unfortunately, Huawei did not reveal other details about the device's availability in other regions aside from Europe.
Huawei Mate Xs Specs and Features
The new Huawei Mate Xs shares the same look like its predecessor but boasts that it is the improved version. It is equipped with a more robust hinge and a superior cooling system. The new foldable device from Huawei also comes with a physical button that users could interact for opening the device.
Unlike its older sibling, the Huawei Mate Xs houses the Kirin 990 5G chipset. It means it offers 5G wireless network connectivity support. The new foldable smartphone is made of glass and metal and retails at CNY16,999 or around $2,400. So far, it is the most expensive foldable smartphone available in the market.
Apart from those, the Huawei Mate Xs borrows some of the specs of its older sibling. It features four shooters at the back. The camera configuration includes a 40 MP primary camera, an 8 MP telephoto camera, and an ultra-wide 20 MP camera. It also comes with a time-of-flight sensor, for Portrait effects. The Huawei Mate Xs comes in 8 GB RAM and 512 GB internal storage base configuration. It also packs a 4500 mAH battery pack and supports 55W fast charging.
