Lady Louise, the daughter of Prince Edward and Sophie, Countess of Wessex, is said to be one of Queen Elizabeth II's most favorite grandchildren. But despite the alleged favoritism, the young lady remains to be second to her brother, James, Viscount Severn, in the line of succession. Although she is older, why does her younger sibling comes first to her?
Lady Louise is now 16 years old, while James is only 12 years old. They are the only two kids of Prince Edward and Sophie after they got married in 1999.
These two often join their parents in royal family get-togethers. They, too, could play important roles in the Firm in the near future. They are also part of the line of succession, although it is highly unlikely that neither of them can ever wear the crown.
James comes 12th in line to the throne, while Lady Louise is 13th. Although Louise is older, she is less senior than her little brother when it comes to succession. According to Express, it is because they were both born before the rules about the line of succession were changed in 2013.
Lady Louise was born in 2003, while James was in 2007. The traditional royal rules of primogeniture noted that brothers, regardless of age, would always come ahead of their sisters in the line of succession. However, this rule was changed when Prince William and Kate Middleton's daughter, Princess Charlotte, was born in July 2013.
The new law entails that older sisters will no longer fall behind their younger brothers in the line of succession. This will be applied to children who were born after Oct. 28, 2011. Sadly, the latest update is not applicable to Lady Louise.
Anyhow, it may be enough for Lady Louise that she is one of Queen Elizabeth's most favorite grandkids. She is already following Her Majesty's footsteps by enjoying riding a horse.
Business Times recently reported that the Wessexes' firstborn was seen enjoying a horse ride with his father on the grounds of Windsor Castle. As the monarch is famous for her love for horses, it looks like the young royal also has the same passion as her grandmother.
Lady Louise looked very natural in riding the horse around the park with Prince Andrew. At the time, she was wearing a bright red jacket, black helmet, and riding gloves to protect herself from cold and any other possible riding incidents.
Lady Louise has been a big fan of horse riding since she was a kid. She often shows her equestrian skills and even joins horse riding competitions, like the British Driving Society Championship for Young Drivers.
