Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were reunited with Prince William and Kate Middleton at the recent Commonwealth Day service, which served as the Sussexes' final royal engagement. Some said that the two royal couples snubbed each other and had an awkward situation at the event. While there were different versions about the pairs' meeting, here's what really happened and what a body language expert said about it.
The Sussexes and Cambridges reunite for one final joint engagement, along with other members of the royal family. Formerly known as the Fab Four, they arrived at Westminster Abbey in different cars, Insider noted.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle first arrived, followed by Prince William and Kate Middleton in a few minutes. The Duchess of Sussex was only a couple of steps away from her sister- and brother-in-law, but neither party made eye contact.
When Prince William and Kate Middleton took their seats, they made brief eye contact and little smiles to acknowledge Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's presence at the back of their seats. But when William and Kate talked to Prince Andrew and Sophie, Countess of Wessex, they didn't involve Harry and Meghan in the discussion. The same thing happened when the Wessexes chatted to the Sussexes.
When the event was over, Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, Prince William, and Kate Middleton kept their eyes forward. They also didn't appear to say goodbye to each other when they left the church.
In an interview with Express, energy reader Alison Ward analyzed the couples' photos. She said their "contrasting outfits and opposing stances spoke volumes" about their relationship.
"Prince Harry and Meghan look as if they can't wait to run for the hills," she said. "The clashing colors the Royal family was wearing created a palpable contrast."
Prince William and Kate Middleton donned patriotic colors of red, white, and blue, which meant they were a team. They consistently proved their unity in every royal engagement they did.
Meghan Markle's green outfit and cape seemed to show that she was her "own superhero" as she initiated their fight for freedom with Prince Harry to live in Canada. The Duke of Sussex's blue suit, on the other hand, was the same color as Queen Elizabeth II's, which meant that his "allegiance and commitment" was still with the monarch.
Anyhow, Prince William and Prince Harry seemed to show opposing body language. Ward noticed that they looked at opposite directions and their bodies faced away from each other, which seemed to be a sign of their preparation to part ways.
