Football action is currently on hold and there are several players with uncertain futures. Among them is Willian Borges da Silva of Chelsea FC who is due for a contract renewal. He has three-and-a-half months left in his current one and an extension has yet to be done. With the coronavirus issue paralyzing the world, it may take some time before the 31-year-old winger gets come clarity on what lies ahead.

Regardless, Willian is not fretting and plans to focus on his current pact, Goal.com reported. For the record, the Brazilian was already offered a deal to stay in London until 2022. However, Willian wanted a slight tweak to it, seeking an additional year from the Blues. It is presumed that negotiations are still ongoing so there is a chance that a new lease could be done soon.

This has not been a serious concern for Willian. He is determined to play out the remaining months of his stay with Chelsea and worry about what happens next afterward. And with the COVID-19 pandemic halting everything, chances are he will be extending his stay until the season officially ends.

"If I had to play on those dates, in these months, I think it would be no problem for me to end the league in a way that would be loyal to the club, as they always were with me. Regardless of a signed paper," Willian said.

Like most footballers, Willian is also in self-isolation following the coronavirus outbreak. Callum Hudson-Odoi tested positive for COVID-19 recently, a recent why stricter measures are being adopted not only by Chelsea but other teams as well. Willian shared how they are strictly advised to stay indoors and not go out unless they need to buy necessities. Failure to comply will cost them in the form of fines.

The latest on what the Premier League plans to do is that they will finish the current season. In a report from ESPN, the Premier League and EFL seasons will finish before the next one begins. The decision was announced following a video conference that involved all 20 Premier League clubs. The shutdown will last until Apr. 30 at the earliest, likely depending on how the coronavirus situation would be at that point. There is a chance that football action may resume in early May although this will likely be held behind closed doors.

"Who knows when next season will start and how many games clubs will we be able to play?" a club source said. "But this is the only way. We have to end this season first."
