Prince Harry apparently made a heartbreaking confession to military chiefs over his devastation about losing the role as the Captain General of the Royal Marines. As part of his arrangement with Queen Elizabeth, he will have to give up his military titles if he no longer wants to be a working member of the royal family.

According to The Sun, the Duke of Sussex told military chiefs of his real feelings about the Queen's demand during his last military engagement in London. Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, attended the Mountbatten Festival of Music for the military last March 7.

Apparently, Prince Harry said that he regretted giving up the role but the decision was "forced on him." Speaking to the Royal Marines, Prince Harry said that he was proud to serve as the captain.

The Duke of Sussex also said that he felt he let down a lot of people but he did not have a choice. An insider told The Sun that Prince Harry seemed ill at ease about confessing his true feelings.

Prince Harry's military life, where he was in the service for 10 years, was a source of pride. He was deployed in key operations in Afghanistan and the source said that his bond with his brotherhood in arms was completely unique that Meghan might not understand Prince Harry's struggle about giving this up.

The Duke of Sussex was a Squadron Leader and earned the rank of Major, Lt Commander upon his retirement in service. In 2017, he inherited the role of Captain General of the Royal Marines upon the retirement of his grandfather, Prince Philip, in public service.

But this might not just be the only honor Prince Harry will lose. Royal experts said that may have to also give up on being the Duke of Sussex if he's going to make the United States his permanent home.

A few days ago, Prince Harry and Meghan flew from Vancouver to the United States to, reportedly, permanently set up their new life in Hollywood. According to Ellie Cambridge, Prince Harry could apply for a Green Card in three years' time if he wants to considered a full-time resident in America.

However, a qualification in this application cites that he may have to give up his British nobility or title. The Duke of Sussex may have to "swear" to the American flag and give up his allegiance to the Queen.

Sources told The Sun that Prince Harry and Meghan planned to be based in California after their move to Canada. Apparently, they released that their stay in the Commonwealth country would not be feasible for many reasons.

For one thing, they have a bigger support network in the United States, where they have hired PR and business managers, as well as Hollywood agents. Meghan also has many close friends in Hollywood, and her mom, Doria Ragland, is in Los Angeles.
