Liverpool has had a fine season and most feel that the Reds deserve The Reds should be judged Premier League champions. They are 25 points ahead of Manchester City although winning the title on a technicality is something Jurgen Klopp and company will likely savor.
Regardless if they would be crowned champions or not, Liverpool is unlikely to stop trying to improve their lineup. The latest murmur on them is that the team is ready to spend heftily to add a curious player from Barcelona. That player is Ousmane Dembele, someone currently out of action due to a hamstring injury. He has been out of action since February after undergoing an operation for it.
It appears Klopp is unfazed on the status of the 22-year-old French footballer. He and Liverpool are ready to shell out as much as $100 million on Dembele to get him over to The Reds side, Sport reported. The French forward was acquired by Blaugrana for $140 million and Liverpool could get a big discount if Barcelona would be amenable to a deal for Dembele.
This season, Dembele has appeared in five games and has scored a single goal. His performance leaves a lot to be desired, having played only 51 games in the three years he has had with Barca. Unless Barcelona has other plans for him, a deal could be struck at some point moving forward. A lot may depend on how well he performs if he gets the chance to return to action. With football action on forced break, the lull may allow him to heal and return for Blaugrana.
One thing working for Dembele is that he is only 22-years-old and should still heal up well. If he returns to action, such will be part of his evaluation. A good performance by the French player would dictate his market price and stay in Barcelona. Failure to impress will likely bring down his market value, something that could make Klopp and company take a second look.
Either way, Klopp sees something in the young forward that could work for them over in Liverpool. That remains unknown but seeing how successful they are this season, one can only be wary of how a Dembele transfer to Liverpool could make them more dangerous.
The essential thing for Dembele now is to heal up and return to action. From there, it all depends on Barcelona and Liverpool if a deal would be struck and how much money would be needed to make it all happen.
