The Premier League is indefinitely suspended, placing players like Dani Ceballos in a compromising situation. He is one of many players facing an uncertain future since his contract is set to lapse this June. Better yet, he is expected to exit Arsenal after this season since he is on loan. Though a transfer is seemingly imminent, the 23-year-old midfielder would rather officially end his contract first and worry about the next.

"I finish my contract on June 30 but I would have to [continue to] play for Arsenal [when football returns]. I don't know how [that would work with his loan technically having finished]," he told El Chiringuito de Jugones.

With the recent announcement that football action will be indefinitely suspended, expect angst moments for players like Ceballos. Thinking ahead, he did mention something he wanted for whichever team he plays next. He wants to be important or needed, Football 365 reported.

Ceballos thought that this would be the case when he suited up for the Gunners. Unfortunately, the opportunity fell short of expectations with the Spanish midfielder falling prey to injuries. This forced him out of action, missing key stretches of the current season. He was ready to return to action before league officials suspended play due to the rising cases of the coronavirus.

Ceballos has multiple suitors to consider. Among them include Valencia and Sevilla. Of the two, playing for the latter seems a bit farfetched. Considering Ceballos played for Betis, he admitted that it would be difficult for him to play for his former team's fierce rival.

"I would only play for Betis, it is my team and the one that gave me the opportunity to be a footballer. I did not get to speak with Julen Lopetegui to sign for Sevilla," Ceballos said.

Moving forward, Ceballos knows that he still has to figure out how this season will go. Despite an expiring contract, he is aware that he needs to play out the rest of the season if officials stand pat on their decision to finish the current season. But with uncertainty in the air, things are getting a bit complicated for all clubs and players like Ceballos.

The COVID-19 pandemic continues to wreak havoc, infecting a lot of people and claiming lives. A cure has yet to come out and it may take time to see one. For now, Ceballos may want to take cover and stay indoors as most athletes are doing right now.
