Queen Elizabeth II is turning 94 in April. It is believed that she will celebrate her name day in Windsor Castle, along with her husband, due to COVID-19.
The monarch's milestone of being the longest-reigning living monarch is widely celebrated around the globe. However, this also reminds the public that she will not be here forever.
It is not an easy matter to tackle but, reports noted that her death is inevitable, just like anyone else. Not to mention, the risks of the coronavirus pandemic has continued to spread across the country and the globe. That being said, many individuals are curious about what will happen when Queen Elizabeth II passes away amid the COVID-19 crisis.
According to Cheat Sheet, there are already plans set as a preparation for the monarch's passing. This is reportedly known as "Operation London Bridge," where series of events will need to execute in honor of the Queen's death.
Some of the details were not disclosed to the public. But, it was revealed that official announcements will come straight out of Buckingham Palace a few hours after the doctor's official declaration.
It was also noted that there will be days allotted mainly for the mourning of her death. In this period, British television programs will be impacted as certain materials will not be allowed to air.
As for the monarchy's movements, Prince Charles will automatically become the King of the United Kingdom. Shortly after the burial, it was said that he will need to tour the countries that are under the British Monarchy for the much-needed "home visitation."
While all of these things are already set when Queen Elizabeth II passes away, things will seemingly need to change if she dies today, amid the COVID-19 pandemic. As per Elle, the distancing guidelines given by the officials will still need to be observed despite the monarch's death. Accordingly, it will change the whole plan at hand as the current condition of the country has a huge impact.
The publication noted that there will be no changes when it comes to the line of succession. So, despite the pandemic, the Prince of Wales will still become the next head of the British Monarchy.
However, members of the British Royal Family will not be able to visit her because of the social distancing guidelines amid the COVID-19 crisis. Therefore, any social gathering to honor her will not be allowed.
It has been assumed that almost all of the preparations for Queen Elizabeth II's death will all be done virtually. In the end, though, it was concluded that losing her today while the pandemic is at its peak will be much more challenging and heartbreaking.
