Jadon Sancho is one of the coveted players by multiple teams. Manchester United singled out as one team in serious pursuit of the 20-year-old winger but it appears the Red Devils need to do something first. Reports are flying in that the English footballer will only be interested in moving to United if they qualify for the Champions League.

As of this writing, the Red Devils are at fifth place in the Premier League table. And with Manchester City serving a two-year Champions League ban, it appears Man Utd's chances of landing Sancho are looking good. But then again, it may be in their best interest to try and improve on their current standing to boost their chances at the 20-year-old booter. Other teams are vying for his services, namely Chelsea and Liverpool. Moving up the table would increase their chances of securing the rising footballer's services.

According to the Sun, this is one of the things that would spur a move by Sancho to Old Trafford. Summing it all up, Sancho wants to join the Red Devils if they can prove that they are good enough to win it all.

And while all that seems doable, there are current governing issues that have complicated matters. The COVID-19 pandemic has grounded football action and resumption of play is not looking good. If the season ends prematurely and decided on a technicality, United's standing right now would be futile since it would be voided. A scenario would see all the teams in the competition once more next season, hinting that the Red Devils will have to work their way back.

Despite facing a ban, Manchester City could have the last laugh as far as Sancho's case is concerned. Aside from being able to match any offers sent the way of the 20-year-old, they can also appeal the ban. If that is granted, not only will City make things complicated for United but potentially snuff their current chances on Sancho.

But then again, that is the possibility linked to Manchester United. Chelsea and Liverpool are different. Both are doing better, especially Chelsea. Regardless of the season resumes or not, it remains that The Blues have proven they can reach the top with their current players. This could be an appealing side for Sancho who wants to join a winning team.

If they fail to land Sancho, the Red Devils may have to look for someone else. If so, Alexis Sanchez could be their plan B, someone who could make a dramatic return to the club. The Chile forward is currently on loan at Inter Milan. If United fails in its pursuit, the 31-year-old could just return at the right time at Old Trafford.
