There is no question that Paulo Dybala is a gifted footballer and such is the reason why Juventus invested heftily in him back in 2015. He did show why he was worth that much but his stock has somehow dipped when Cristiano Ronaldo came on board.
Dybala is only 26 years old and the Argentine forward has plenty of room left to improve. But in the eyes of Alessandro Del Piero, Dybala needs to push himself more if he is to unleash his full potential. Though good, the former Italian forward believes that the Argentine forward still has a lot left to show and that he has no reached the peak of his football career.
Del Pierro saw for himself that Dybala is a talented player that has plenty more to give. This was during a closed-door game last Mar. 8 which Juventus won over Inter Milan, 2-0. Dybala has a superb all-around effort but Del Pierro feels that he has yet to reach his prime.
“The kind of goal that he scored against Inter proves that he is a player of extraordinary quality," the Juve legend said to Gazzetta Dello Sport. "What a goal like that must do is give him even more confidence and awareness of his potential.
In 34 appearances, Dybala has made 13 goals and 12 assists for Juves. Since the arrival of Ronaldo from Real Madrid in 2018, the 24-year-old forward has had to adjust with Ronaldo now Juve's main man. He remains struggling as he tries to blend in with the Portuguese star, Goal.com reported. And one can only wonder how dangerous Juventus could be of Ronaldy and Dybala to develop chemistry and blend in.
Del Pierro believes that Dybala needs to adopt a new kind of mentality to take his game to the next level. Aside from his age, the Argentine's journey has just started and his road towards evolving into one of the top stars in the sport looks promising.
“Dybala’s journey has just begun and will get even better – with the Bianconeri jersey on his back, obviously,” Del Pierro said.
Dybala has all the time in the world to figure out what he needs to do to unleash his full potential. With football action on pause, it would be the perfect time for him to look back and figure out what he truly lacks. Once he does figure that out and hum with Ronaldo, Juventus stands to gain heftily with two talented players at the disposal of Maurizio Sarri.
