Queen Elizabeth previously released a statement via the Buckingham Palace that she supports Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s decision of stepping down as senior royals. But just like everyone else, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s choice also came with a price.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will not only lose their HRH titles and the Duke of Sussex’s military title, but they will also be banned from using the word “royal” in their future activities. The couple then released a statement of their own noting that they had no intention of using the “Sussex Royal” brand after they officially leave their roles.
However, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Instagram account under the name SussexRoyal is still active with 11.3 million followers as of this writing. Although the Duke and Duchess of Sussex already said their goodbyes to their supporters and have not posted on the account since, royal experts Roberta Fiorito and Rachel Bowie discussed the couple possibly angering Queen Elizabeth if they continue to communicate under their SussexRoyal moniker.
"It is funny to me that @SussexRoyal still has 11.3 million followers. I don’t think anyone has dropped off. They did say their goodbyes. Maybe I am being way too hopeful about this,” Roberta Fiorito said. Rachel Bowie then added, “I feel like if they did post there they would be in trouble with the Queen. Because it is still SussexRoyal. They would have to rebrand everything. So they must be in the midst of that. They are in the middle of just launching everything so they are probably just laying low for now.”
Meanwhile, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s new foundation name is called Archewell. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex shared that they were inspired by the word “Arche” for their new foundation, which is also the name of their son.
"Before SussexRoyal, came the idea of Arche - the Greek word meaning source of action. We connected to this concept for the charitable organization we hoped to build one day, and it became the inspiration for our son's name. To do something of meaning, to do something that matters,” the couple said. “Archewell is a name that combines an ancient word for strength and action, and another that evokes the deep resources we each must draw upon."
However, people are not as impressed with the name as many may expect. Some even compared it to two controversial brands such as Tom Cruise’s religion, Scientology, and Gwyneth Paltrow’s wellness and lifestyle company, Goop.
