World leaders and influential people have been speaking up about the coronavirus pandemic. Some were urging people to follow the rules such as washing hands regularly and social distancing, and others were spreading hope that we will win the battle against the global health crisis.
Even though Prince Harry is not a working royal anymore, he still took time off to share his thoughts regarding the coronavirus outbreak. However, the Duke of Sussex said something that medical experts were not very happy about.
“I’m just so incredibly proud to see what these individuals up and down the country and across the world are doing on a day to day basis,” Prince Harry said. “I think that what is happening especially in the UK is the very best of the human spirit. It’s also proving that I think things are better than we’re led to believe through certain corners of the media. It can be very worrying when you’re sitting there and the only information you are getting is from certain news channels, but then if you are out and about or you are on the right platforms, you can really sense this human spirit coming to the forefront."
Professor Karol Sikora, a leading British oncologist, branded Prince Harry’s remarks as “outrageous.”
“What are his qualifications for making these comments — other than deserting his country in its hour of need? I think these remarks are outrageous,” he said. “As for the media, I really don’t understand what Harry’s beef is. Journalists have been reporting the facts and have been doing great work in holding the Government to account. The media has also championed the NHS and become a key ally of doctors, nurses and key workers. They should be applauded, not vilified."
Nadra Ahmed of the National Care Association then warned Prince Harry that he has no idea of the whole coronavirus pandemic situation.
Meanwhile, Prince Harry discussed the importance of mental wellbeing during the lockdown during a video call to parents and carers of severely ill children. The Duke of Sussex commended them for their efforts during the global health crisis and appeared to admit that he’s feeling guilty that he’s “having so much family time.”
Prince Harry then noted that the most important thing is that the parents and carers have each other while they deal with the crisis.
"Right now there is no way you can run away from it, you can't even distract yourself from it in another room," he shared. "As long as you guys are looking after yourselves and each other that is the best thing you can do."
