Kate Middleton may not be royal by blood, but she has adapted the royal lifestyle from the very first day she said “I do” to Prince William back in 2011. Now, the Duchess of Cambridge is one of the most popular members of the Royal family.

Kate Middleton seamlessly transformed from commoner to royal. While the Duchess of Cambridge often follows royal family traditions, she made her own decision when picking a school for her children.

Prince George and Princess Charlotte are both enrolled at Thomas's Battersea in London. The school was never attended by royals before since many of them have been educated away from home at boarding school, but Kate Middleton is not following this royal family tradition.

"Just like any other family, Kate likely chose a school - whether private or state - by looking at the options, considering the quality and style of education that each school offers and considering other factors like location, friends and family and reputation,” Murray Morrison, leading education expert and the founder of Tassomai.com, said. "Princes William and Harry attended Wetherby Prep as children, and this remains an excellent school and would likely have been in the running. However, the Cambridges chose St Thomas’s Battersea for their children. There is a range of other schools that the Royal Family has chosen over recent generations and doubtless, the choice has come down to which school offered the best fit for their child."

Although choosing a specific school is not a strict royal family tradition, a lot of the royals have been doing the same thing for decades. However, Prince William and Kate Middleton are breaking away from what the royals are used to when it comes to the kids’ school.

"Their choice suggests to me that they are a family like any other, choosing what they felt to be the best option for their children rather than simply doing what their parents did,” Murray Morrison continued. “Of course they are fortunate to be able to afford private school fees, which is not an option for many, but they have made their choice by judging which school would be the best environment for their child."

Meanwhile, just like everyone else in the UK and most parts of the world, the Royal family is also practicing the implemented lockdown. That being said, two of Prince William and Kate Middleton’s children may be spending their special milestones while in the emergency protocol. Princess Charlotte will be turning five in May 2 and Prince Louis will be two years old on April 23.
