Queen Elizabeth II is one of the most hard-working royals in the British Royal Family. She has also remained to be the most popular and well-liked among all, which is not surprising considering that she is the head of the British Monarchy.

She has already reigned for more than 65 years making her the longest-reigning British monarch. She reached the said milestone after surpassing Queen Victoria's 63 years of reign in 2015.

With this at hand, it is not surprising that she has already broken several royal rules and protocols. She was even described as a "royal rebel" for breaking some of her own rules.

According to Reader's Digest, Queen Elizabeth II helped paved the way for British royals to marry individuals outside of their faith as she allowed Roman Catholics to join the British Royal Family. British royals were never allowed to marry Roman Catholics. But if they did, they will lose their position in the succession.

In 2013, however, the Succession to the Crown Act changed this dynamic, which then allows all members of the British Royal Family to marry Roman Catholics, and not lose their posts on the line of succession. It is worth noting that since the 1700s, the Royal Family has been Protestants.

Queen Elizabeth II also, reportedly, changed the "long-standing law" that all descendants will need to have the Monarch's consent to marry. Instead, only the first six persons in line to the throne will have to ask her for consent to get married.

Another royal protocol that the Queen was said to have broken is the invitations to non-royals during Christmas in Sandringham. In 2017, after announcing their engagement, Meghan Markle was said to have gotten invited by the British Monarch to celebrate the holiday with the British Royal Family.

It was noted that this was the first time that Queen Elizabeth II did this. The following year, she also, reportedly, invited the Duchess' mother, Doria Ragland, for the same event.

Insider also released a similar report revealing some of the Queen's actions in the past that seemingly broke her own royal protocols. The most iconic of them all reportedly involved Michelle Obama.

It is already a known protocol that royals are not allowed to be touched by their audience. However, the former US First Lady broke this rule when she hugged and embraced the Queen during their engagement.

Surprisingly, Queen Elizabeth II "happily" accepted the embrace and even reportedly hugged her back, which became a very iconic moment.
