The next generation flagship iPhone series from Apple is anticipated to come with models that feature 5G and mmWave 5G wireless network connectivity support. While the industry expects that the iPhone 12 lineup would launch on Sept. 2020, other models might launch or arrive at a later date. That is according to reliable industry analysts who recently shared their thoughts about the potential release date of the iPhone 12 5G with mmWave support.
iPhone 12 5G With mmWave Support Release Details
TFI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, on his notes to investors, said that iPhone 12 models with fastest 5G support might meet possible delay risk and might be announced beyond the usual Apple timeline. Additionally, the analyst claimed that Apple has to make some changes on the antenna package of these models that were produced in the early part of Apr. He also underlined the delays in the qualification process services of the iPhone 12 5G models, which contributed to the possible delayed launch.
Going into details, Ming-Chi Kuo shared that the highly speculated 5.4-inch iPhone 12 and the 6.7-inch iPhone 12 would enter into production in Sept. 2020. However, he noted that mass production of the bigger 6.7-inch iPhone 12 would start in Oct. 2020 considering that it has the most complex design among all models of the iPhone 12 series. This delay in the mass production of the 6.7-inch iPhone 12 could lead to a launch date much later than earlier anticipated.
Kuo's statement about the antenna of the iPhone 12 5G with mmWave support models seemingly aligns with what Jeff Pu of GF Securities earlier said. According to Pu, the antenna design drains more battery beyond what Apple expected. He added that "apart from the epidemic, the power consumption of the AiP module may also affect the launch schedule of the mmWave version."
The delayed launch of the iPhone 12 model with fastest 5G support (mmWave) was also suggested by other industry analysts. Thomas O'Malley and Blayne Curtis earlier said that data reveals that the Cupertino tech giant might not launch the iPhone 12 with 5G mmWave support this year. Mendi Hosseini, analyst of Susquehanna, predicted that iPhone 12 5G with mmWave support might arrive in Jan 2021.
