Since 2019, the US Commerce Department released a mandate that Huawei, along with its subsidiaries on the country's Entity List, US-based companies are not allowed to export products to the Chinese technology giant. Because of this, smartphones released by the company are not allowed to ship with pre-installed Google apps. But, for those who want a smartphone with Google Play services and apps, the Huawei P30 Pro New Edition is available.
The Chinese tech giant Huawei is poised to release the Huawei P30 Pro New Edition, and surprisingly, it comes with Google Mobile Services on board. The information comes from a promotional campaign on the official website of the company in Germany that was recently picked up by Pocket-Lint. How is this possible?
According to XDA Developers, Huawei simply used the certifications of existing models, which are still valid. The site added that as long as the changes that the Chinese tech giant makes to the existing versions enable it to run on the same software release that the search engine giant already certified, it can be done. In other words, Huawei simply has to rebrand and rerelease its existing handset so it could roll out with Google Mobile Services.
The site further explained that as long as Huawei does not ship a new SoC, it could introduce upgrades to the rebranded models. It could include an increase in storage capacity and RAM. It is also possible, according to the site, that the Chinese tech juggernaut introduce different cameras to the rebranded version and could still be covered by previously issued Google certifications.
The Huawei P30 Pro New Edition may feature several changes. It could have a different memory capacity, probably a much higher RAM. Huawei has not yet revealed what other changes it introduced in the new and upcoming model. But, it would certainly make some strategic moves so it could successfully market the New Edition since the Huawei P30 Pro model already features Google Mobile Services.
As for its international release window, nothing is official yet. The promotional campaign where the information comes from promised a free tablet when customers purchase a certain unit. Handsets included in the promotional campaign are available between May 15 and June 4.
The Huawei P30 Pro New Edition is among those handsets available within the said dates. In other words, the particular model would be released in Germany on May 15, 2020. For other regions, Huawei usually launches its smartphones to the different areas and varying dates.
