The Falcon and The Winter Soldier is undoubtedly one of the most highly anticipated Marvel Cinematic Universe shows that is set to premiere this year. After all, the new Disney+ series will follow Sam Wilson aka Falcon and Bucky Barnes aka The Winter Soldier after the events that took place in Avengers: Endgame. However, it looks like the new show will actually be more similar to one of the studio's older films. Sebastian Stan has just revealed that working on the new series was like returning to Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
Sebastian Stan is one of the major stars of the Marvel Cinematic Universe for a good reason. Although his character only had a small part in Captain America: The First Avenger, it was later revealed that Bucky Barnes didn't actually die in the first film. Bucky was miraculously brought back in the second Captain America movie and has been working as The Winter Soldier after all this time, which meant that he would go up against Steve Rogers. Not surprisingly, The Winter Soldier is believed to be one of the best MCU flicks ever made and Stan has effectively hyped up his new show by comparing it to the movie.
Sebastian Stan recently spoke to The Hollywood Reporter where he admitted that The Falcon and The Winter Soldier has a lot of similarities with the second Captain America film. "What I loved about it was that, tonally, it was very much in the same world that Captain America: The Winter Soldier was, which was one of my favorite experiences that I've ever had, period," Stan said. "So, in a sense, it was grounded and very much in the world as we know it."
In addition to that, Sebastian Stan confirmed that fans can look forward to more intense action sequences in the upcoming Marvel show. "It's also really jam-packed with a lot of massive, massive action scenes mixed with deep focus on character. That's what's really exciting about this," he said.
For now, the production on The Falcon and The Winter Soldier has been put on hold due to the Coronavirus outbreak. Although Sebastian Stan did not reveal if the series is close to completion, he did point out that there was still a lot of work that needed to be done on the show.
The Falcon and The Winter Soldier has not yet been given an official release date. Nevertheless, the new Marvel series is already expected to premiere on Disney+ by late 2020.
