Prince Harry is reportedly missing the army life. The Duke of Sussex, who retired from the military as a major in 2015, apparently confided to some friends that he could have been "better protected" had he stayed on to serve in the military.

A source opened up to The Telegraph to say that Prince Harry feels that his life is turning upside down since losing his military connections. After stepping back from his royal duties, Queen Elizabeth also stripped him off his military affiliations. One of which was being the Captain General Royal Marines, a role he inherited from his grandfather, Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh.

"He can't believe his life has been turned upside down," the source said. "He was in a happy place when he was serving in the army, then he met Meghan and since then life has been great," the source added. "I don't think he foresaw things turning out quite as they did."

The source reiterated, however, the Prince Harry does not regret his decision to leave London and stay in Los Angeles with his wife and son. However, the Duke of Sussex apparently also feels that he may have been better protected as a royal if he was still an active military man.

Prince Harry also apparently loves the military life because of the camaraderie and brotherhood he experienced in the service. While on tours of duty in Afghanistan, Prince Harry was simply called Harry or Captain Wales by his peers.

In one other interview, Prince Harry said that he was regarded like one of the guys in his military unit. He does not get special treatments and this made leaving the service much harder for the Duke of Sussex.

However, Prince Harry was, reportedly, prompted to quit the military life after it became apparent that the spare to the heir could be in danger. As a popular royal, his tours of duty were publicly reported in the tabloids and this exposed him to terrorists, especially since he was assigned in a terrorist hotspot.

Some royal experts, however, said that Prince Harry decided to leave the military by his own choice because he was set to do more charity work for the royal family. After his royal exit early this year, Prince Harry keeps his rank as major but he will only be supporting the military in a "non-official capacity" but his current advocacies are always related to military servicemen.
