Because of their age, Queen Elizabeth and Prince Charles remained in isolation due to the coronavirus pandemic. Those who are over 70 are considered to be most at risk of catching severe COVID-19, so Her Majesty and the Prince of Wales are expected to follow the strict government guidelines.

But despite their isolation, Queen Elizabeth and Prince Charles have been praised for their impressive leadership during the coronavirus crisis. Royal expert Robert Jobson said that Her Majesty has shown strength and stability to the public and the future King has stepped up in the absence of Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

"You do feel that there has been a sense of leadership from the Queen,” he said in the Royal Rota podcast. "Whether that is coming from her, her people, or the Prince of Wales we do not know. They have impressed. I think that is an interesting experience for me. I know it has been quite controlled and it is almost like a war time experience… I thought the Prince of Wales’ messages although not as professionally put together were strong. I think they have played a very important role. Particularly with Boris Johnson being absent through no fault of his own."

Early last month, Queen Elizabeth delivered a powerful message in a televised speech. Her Majesty thanked frontline NHS staff, care workers, and people who have been helping out during the global health crisis.

Queen Elizabeth’s message was not just to rally against the coronavirus pandemic, but also to give hope for the people. The Royal family, especially Her Majesty, are huge inspirations to the public, which is why her speech meant a lot to many.

"I hope in the years to come everyone will be able to take pride in how they responded to this challenge,” Queen Elizabeth said. "And those who come after us will say that the Britons of this generation were as strong as any. That the attributes of self-discipline, of quiet, good-humored resolve and of fellow feeling still characterize this country.”

Queen Elizabeth then acknowledged the difficulties that the people are dealing with during the coronavirus outbreak, such as “financial difficulties” and “enormous changed.”

“I am speaking to you at what I know is an increasingly challenging time,” Her Majesty continued. “A time of disruption in the life of our country: a disruption that has brought grief to some, financial difficulties to many, and enormous changes to the daily lives of us all."
