One of the most effective ways to be protected against the coronavirus, as experts advised, is to stay indoors. Unfortunately, there are times where most people are left with no choice but to venture out of their house and embrace the risks. One of the main reasons why people do so despite the risks of acquiring the coronavirus is their need to purchase goods.

But experts say there are still ways on how to lessen the risks and protect yourself while doing your groceries and buying the things you need. Here are some of the ways to do it.

AVOID CROWDS

"While it is possible to contract the virus [from contaminated surfaces], the majority of transmission is probably going to be from respiratory droplets", explains Angela Rasmussen, a virologist at the Center for Infection and Immunity at Columbia University's Mailman School of Public Health. Since infliction can only happen once you are exposed to those who have the virus, avoiding crowds, and observing social distance can surely help you become protected big time.

PURCHASE QUICKLY

The lesser time you spend outside means a lesser chance of being exposed to people who are tested positive with the virus too. So make sure to shop quickly.

Shop efficiently and fast by creating a list of everything you need to buy. Doing so can help you focus more on the task that you have to do instead of the stress and overwhelming feeling you have while doing your groceries.

SHOP ALONE

Shopping alone could be very tiring especially nowadays that you have to buy a lot of things at the same time. So it is inevitable to consider bringing one or some of your family to shop with you to help you out. But did you know that it is better to shop alone? Experts say, the more people accompanying you to the grocery, the more it could increase the risk of your family getting infected, as reported by NPR.

SANITIZE EVERYTHING ONCE HOME

From your shoes, clothes, money, cards, face masks, gloves, cell phones, accessories, your body, to your purchases-everything could be contaminated by the coronavirus. So to protect your family from the risks, it is better to sanitize everything first before going inside your home.

Do that by washing your clothes and shoes with bleach, soap, and water, taking a bath, soaking your groceries in a water-bleach solution, and throwing away your used face masks and gloves properly. It is also better to sanitize your accessories and cell phones too before bringing it inside, as advised by CNBC.
