Malibu, the place and the song, holds a special place in Miley Cyrus' heart. The singer celebrated the third anniversary of her song "Malibu" which was also her tribute to her ex-husband, Liam Hemsworth.

Miley wrote the song with record producer Oren Yoel in 2017. It is all about her reconciliation with Hemsworth and picking up where they left off in Malibu, years after they called off their engagement in 2013. The title refers to the place where they live at the time.

In the third year since "Malibu" was released, Miley posted a montage of clips from the music video. She also shared some of the fan reactions to the song.

"3 YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF MALIBU," she captioned her post.

Since getting back together in early 2016, Miley and Liam shared a lot of photos taken from their Malibu home. Unfortunately, the house was destroyed by the California wildfires in November 2018. Despite the devastation, the couple managed to pull off a secret wedding in December at the Cyruses home in Nashville.

Miley and Liam had an on-and-off romance. They first met on the set of their movie, The Last Song, in 2009. It quickly developed romantically and in 2012, the Hunger Games actor proposed to the singer. However, they split a year later.

The two rekindled romance in 2016. Two years later, they got married. Cyrus and Hemsworth, however, called it quits just seven months later.

The Australian actor filed for divorce in August 2019, citing "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for the split. Their divorce was finalized earlier this year.

After their split, Miley released another song, "Slide Away." The track gave a glimpse of how her relationship with Hemsworth came to an end.

The "Wrecking Ball" singer also got involved with Kaitlynn Carter after she broke up with Hemsworth. However, Miley and Kaitlynn also broke up a month later.

At the moment, the Hannah Montana actress is dating Aussie singer/model Cody Simpson. Liam, on the other hand, is in a relationship with model Gabriella Brooks.

The former couple has yet to talk about their divorce. But in a recent interview of Hemsworth with Men's Health Australia, the actor shared how he stayed "balanced" in the wake of his marriage break up.

"This last six months, honestly, for keeping my head level and just staying balanced, I'd say exercise has been big for me," he said.

Miley is currently keeping herself busy by hosting her Instagram show, titled Miley Cyrus: Bright Minded, while quarantining at her Calabasas home. The show gives her celebrity guests a chance to open up about themselves. For instance, fellow Disney star Selena Gomez recently revealed her bipolar diagnosis on Miley's show.
