Meghan Markle was with her mother, Doria Ragland, for Mother's Day on May 10. The Duchess of Sussex also baked a strawberry and cream cake for her son, who celebrated his first birthday on May 6.

According to People, while Meghan baked the cake for Archie, Prince Harry decorated their home with balloons. The family had a small birthday celebration for their son with two of his best friends as guests -- their family dogs.

Since large gatherings are not permitted in this pandemic, the Sussex family had to settle for a low-key celebration. They also had to observe social distancing when they celebrated Mother's Day with Doria, since she is over 60 years old, the age presumed to be vulnerable to COVID-19.

Prince Harry and Meghan also spent time video chatting with their friends and family for the special occasions. Both celebrations had been "really simple but joyous," according to a source

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex flew from Vancouver to settle in Los Angeles in the middle of March or since the shelter in place orders have been imposed by various governments around the world. Prince Harry and Meghan have been following quarantine orders since then and were only able to step out of their house to do food deliveries for charity for a few days.

The Sussex pair was supposed to kick off their new foundation, Archewell, by April as they leave the Sussex Royal brand behind. However, Prince Harry and Meghan said that because of what's going on in the world, they will instead focus on their family unit. They also encouraged their followers to do their part to help others struggling with the health crisis.

But while generally keeping quarantined and isolating from social activities, Prince Harry and Meghan have been taking part in video conference calls to reach out to the charities they support. The couple's video calls have been shared online by the organizations since they still do not have an official website or social media presence for Archewell.

It's unclear when Prince Harry and Meghan will actually launch Archewell since there are still lockdown orders in place. However, a source said that the Sussexes are optimistic about the fall season.

In the meantime, Prince Harry and Meghan remain in quarantine at their Beverly Hills mansion, which is owned by Tyler Perry. The couple also recently set up protective screens in the property after the press got wind of where they are staying in Los Angeles.
