People are still in shock after Ruby Rose announced that she is leaving Batwoman after only one season. After all, the Orange is the New Black star was the perfect actor to play Kate Kane in the CW series and fans still have a hard time imagining anybody else playing the DC comic book hero. However, it looks like Rose's departure was not something that the actress decided on her own. A new report reveals that Warner Bros. and The CW were eager to let go of Rose due to several problems while she was still working on the first season.

Ruby Rose previously released a statement confirming her exit from the series. "I have made the very difficult decision to not return to Batwoman next season," Rose said. "This was not a decision I made lightly as I have the utmost respect for the cast, crew and everyone involved with the show in both Vancouver and in Los Angeles." Interestingly, the new report from TVLine cites an anonymous source who revealed that Rose wasn't the only one who decided that it was time to leave.

"It wasn't 100-percent her decision," the source told the outlet. "It was a breakup. She wasn't happy working on the show, and did that make her fun to work with? No. So everyone decided it would be in the best interests of the show, and for all concerned if they parted ways. It just wasn't a good fit."

According to the source, Ruby Rose was "was distressed by the long hours demanded of a lead TV role and did not acclimate well to life in Vancouver," where most of Batwoman was filmed. It was also pointed out that the actress may have been exhausted after working on two different films right before she started filming for the CW series. With that in mind, Rose was reportedly unhappy with her situation and was eager to leave the show as soon as possible. Sadly, this means that Kate Kane will be portrayed by a different actress in Season 2.

Batwoman was only recently renewed for a second season, which is expected to continue focusing on Kate Kane. With Ruby Rose leaving the series, The CW and Warner Bros. are now looking to recast the role as soon as possible. For now, the studios have not yet made an announcement on who will replace Rose in the series. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
