Face masks are considered some of the most essential and important stuff nowadays. That was after health authorities approved its effectiveness and efficiency in protecting a person from getting infected by the coronavirus.

But amid the pandemic, another news stunned the world making a lot of people worried and confused. This was after two Chinese students drop dead after attending their Physical Education class while allegedly wearing a mask.

The incident happened in two different schools in China, where the two boys were having their lessons. Reports say both kids have suddenly collapsed while in class and eventually died on April 24 and 30, respectively.

One of the students was identified as Li, a 15 years old student of Dancheng Caiyuan Middle School. The student's father, Mr. Li, said the cause of the death of his son was 'sudden cardiac arrest'.

Cao Lanxiu, professor at the Shaanxi University of Chinese Medicine, is not convinced that the teenager died because of the mask. Lanxiu claims, if ever Li was already having difficulty of breathing, the kid should have removed it to grasp more air no matter what. The professor believes that the student has died due to an undetected cardiovascular problem.

Despite the claims, the father still believes his son's death is caused by the face mask he wore while doing a strenuous exercise on a sunny and warm day, as reported by Dailymail. He also declined to conduct an autopsy to the body of his child.

Authorities say despite what happened to the kids, face masks are still safe for people who are healthy and don't have underlying respiratory and cardiovascular conditions even while doing exercises. This has been shared by Grayson Wickham, a physical therapist and certified strength and conditioning specialist at Movement Vault.

But, while doing so, it is better to be mindful of what you are feeling too. If you are already experiencing symptoms such as dizziness, lightheadedness, shortness of breath, and numbness, better to just remove the mask to be able to breathe properly and just follow social distancing for a while.

For people who are suffering from chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder, asthma, bronchitis, pulmonary fibrosis, cystic fibrosis, and alike, on the other hand, it is better not to use a face mask when exercising anymore, as advised by CNET. Those who also suffer from cardiovascular diseases should also ask their doctors first before intending to use one.

For a safer way to be healthy, especially with our current situation, you might want to consider exercising and working out inside your homes instead. Enjoying nature while getting fit can be a very good way to start the day, but it is still safer to stay inside your homes.
