Prince William and Kate Middleton just celebrated their ninth year wedding anniversary in April. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have three young children Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.
Before saying their “I dos” in 2011, Prince William and Kate Middleton had been an on-and-off couple for several years. The pair also started as friends before taking their relationship to the next level.
That being said, Prince William and Kate Middleton seem to know each other very well and their family backgrounds. However, a previous report claimed that the Duchess of Cambridge did not know one important thing before marrying the older son of Prince Charles and the late Princess Diana.
“The one thing I suppose she may not have known, and will now know, is just how peculiar royal life is,” journalist and author Catherine Mayer said in a 2017 ITV documentary Kate: The Making of a Modern Queen. “They’re really not about comfort, they’re really not about family life,” she added about living in the palace.
This revelation is quite interesting as Kate Middleton’s family is known to be really close. But despite that, the Duchess of Cambridge had been a part of the Royal Family for almost a decade and she appeared to have fit the part as Prince William’s wife and future Queen Consort well.
Catherine Mayer even said that there’s nothing that she could teach Kate Middleton about how to be a member of the Royal Family because she took her place well and blended with them very quickly. The journalist and author then noted that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have modernized the idea of monarchy in some ways.
The older members of the Royal Family still strictly stick to tradition like Prince Charles. The apparent heir to the throne not only obliges his staff to call him “sir,” curtsy, and bow, his friends are expected to do the same thing too. As for Prince William and Kate Middleton, they are not as particular with that.
Meanwhile, Kate Middleton is not the only one who learned her spouse’s lifestyle. It has been reported numerous times that Prince William is very close to his in-laws.
In fact, reports revealed that Prince William enjoys staying at the Middleton’s residence and has an amazing relationship with Kate Middleton’s parents. On top of that, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge raise their children like any regular parents do. This is definitely a lifestyle that the couple adopted from Kate’s upbringing.
