Pierre-Emerick-Aubameyang has 13 months left in his current deal, although Arsenal FC may need to address it as soon as possible. It remains that several teams have expressed interest in the 30-year-old football player who is widely believes to possibly move out. A reason for this is the Gabon captain is not getting any younger and would love to reach the Champions League stage.

According to ESPN, the Gunners have yet to decide on whether to discuss and extension with the Aubameyang or not. It is possible that Arsenal will wait until next season to address his status, a move that could be risky. There are teams interested in Aubameyang and seem bent on convincing him to leave Emirates Stadium. Among the teams lining up include Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona.

Mikel Arteta is expected to address the status of Aubameyang at some point moving forward. And there have already been calls made for Arsenal to keep the Gabon national at all cost. One person who voiced out his opinion is Jaime Carragher. He points out how getting a goal-scorer is not that easy these days and the Gunners would be foolish to let Aubameyang go. However, there are conditions that could factor in. And one of them is a Champions League stint.

Currently sitting at 9th spot in the Premier League table, Arsenal holds low chances of making the top four. They are a point behind Tottenham and a point ahead of Burnley. Unless Arsenal is able to come up with a miracle run for the remainder of the season, Aubameyang may have to wait until next season to fulfill that Champions League wish. However, pressure will mount on Arteta and the Gunners if they wait that long.

Even if a contract is offered right now, there is no telling if Aubameyang would sign. It is possible that he may be offered a short-term deal, an added lifeline to give Arteta more time to prove that his philosophy will help bring the Gunners back to greatness. The stint of Aubameyang has not been spared from controversy, something that all started when Unai Emery was still the manager for Arsenal. Things have changed since then, including seeing Aubameyang getting named club captain. However, that seems to have had little influence in him, hinting that a Champions League appearance may raise the chances of him staying.

Arsenal needs to make its move early on Aubameyang to make sure he does not exit without nothing in return. But seeing how valuable he is, Arteta will likely sit down with him personally to discuss his part in the Gunners’ new roadmap.
